The Chaplaincy serves an important role within American Legion Post 44. One of its primary purposes is to help members strengthen their relationship with God and with one another. As a reminder of the transcendent and moral values upon which our nation was founded, the Chaplain encourages an environment where Legionnaires can grow personally, morally, and spiritually.
The American Legion is a non-denominational organization that welcomes members of all faith traditions, beliefs, and backgrounds. The Chaplain’s ministry is open to all and seeks to provide comfort, encouragement, and spiritual support regardless of religious affiliation.
The Chaplain’s responsibilities extend beyond opening and closing prayers at meetings. Chaplains minister to members and their families during times of illness, loss, hardship, and celebration. As many veterans age and face new challenges, the need for fellowship, compassion, and spiritual care continues to grow. Members are encouraged to notify the Chaplain when a fellow Legionnaire or family member could benefit from a visit, prayer, or other assistance.
Growing Together in Faith
After the upcoming summer months, my goal is to offer periodic Bible study and faith discussion opportunities for members, families, and friends at Post 44. These gatherings will provide a welcoming setting for fellowship, reflection, and meaningful conversation about faith, service, leadership, and daily life.
Whether you are a lifelong student of Scripture or simply curious about exploring faith in a supportive environment, you will be invited to participate. Bible studies will be held monthly or quarterly based on member interest and scheduling.
Our goal will be very simple: to strengthen our faith, support one another, and continue living the values of service, integrity, and devotion that have long defined both the American Legion and our nation’s veterans.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” — Matthew 18:20
