The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) members and volunteers step up to advance our mission of service to veterans, military and their families!

Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest patriotic service organization. With a membership at nearly 800,000, local American Legion Auxiliary units have a strong presence in more than 9,000 communities nationwide. The American Legion Auxiliary’s mission is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad.

How to Join

Become part of the largest women’s patriotic service organization in the world! We are the wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, granddaughters and great-granddaughters of veterans who served our great country. Some of us are veterans ourselves.  Male spouses of veterans can also join the organization.

Eligibility Requirements for American Legion Auxiliary Membership

A woman who is eligible for membership in The American Legion is also eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary. The mother, wife, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion, and deceased veterans who served honorably in the United States Armed Forces  at any time after 7 December 1941.   A male spouse of a veteran is also eligible for membership.
